Our Family

Three generations of Greek culinary tradition

Grandfather Yiannis Belonitis, master chef who cooked for the King of Greece

Where It All Began

Grandfather Yiannis Belonitis

Our grandfather Yiannis Belonitis is the man responsible for all the generations of knowledge passed down to our mom, Dia Kalloniatis, and then to us, her sons.

He was a master chef who worked for King Pavlos of Greece. Though he wasn't blessed with a long life, passing away at only 51 years young, he left an indelible mark on his family and community. He would often feed the entire neighborhood right out of his own kitchen.

He would teach his children his craft. Mom absorbed everything he showed her, and he would often tell her that she had surpassed him in many ways. He knew she would do so in all facets one day.

Mom: Dia Kalloniatis

The Heart of Holiday Pizza

Mom is an amazing student as you all have tasted. She's also an incredible teacher. She has taught us everything we know, and we hope to be as great as her and our Grandfather one day!

Everything Dia learned from Yiannis, she refined and made her own, bringing those flavors across the ocean to Statesboro, Georgia. Her recipes are the foundation of every dish at Holiday Pizza.

Nick & Johnny

Carrying the Tradition Forward

Dia's sons, Nick and Johnny, carry on the family tradition at Holiday Pizza. Together with their mom, they've been serving Statesboro since 1991. Every day in the kitchen is a tribute to Grandfather Yiannis and the culinary heritage he instilled in the family.

The Holiday Pizza Story

A Statesboro Tradition Since 1991

Opening the Doors

Holiday Pizza first opened its doors on Fair Road in Statesboro, Georgia in 1991. For over a decade, it became a beloved gathering place for students, families, and locals.

A Difficult Chapter

In September 2013, tough economic conditions and growing competition from national chains forced the family to close. It was a heartbreaking decision.

The Comeback

But the community never forgot. When the opportunity to reopen at the original Fair Road location came in 2016, the family jumped at it. The building was completely gutted and rebuilt while preserving the original spirit.

“The community was great to us before and we missed the people.”

— Johnny

“What we discovered is that the customers had a chance to really miss us also!”

— Nick

When longtime customers walk through the door, Dia sees the joy: “They jump up and down and have tears in their eyes when they come in.”
